OUR AGENDA

I am pledging to pursue objectives listed below.
Each objective is measurable. I believe that every goal should
have a level of accountability built into them to ensure we are
making progress.
  1. Ensure tax dollars are spent responsibly and resources allocated in an efficient matter.
  2. Maintain a high level of accessibility with our community.
  3. Initiate college readiness collaboratives focused on creating summer programming targeting middle school students within the Alamo Promise pipeline.
  4. Improve student retention and student success indicators to ensure students are not dropping out and are succeeding in the classroom.
  5. Increase the number of minority students enrolled at Alamo Colleges in 2020.
  6. Develop greater opportunities and relevant workforce development programs that can be fostered through our education service centers.
  7. Create and support second chance program participation for adults who were previously incarcerated.
  8. Establish a vibrant African American studies program at Alamo Colleges.
  9. Build a diverse portfolio of minority owned businesses working and collaborating with Alamo Colleges
  10. Form an Alamo Colleges, D2 leadership/mentorship program for students interested in community engagement, serving in elected office, and mastering Public Policy.
"As a student, Alamo Colleges transformed my life. As a Board member, I will work hard to ensure that Alamo Colleges transforms our community."
Education is the key to creating pathways for a better jobs after graduation. Alamo Colleges has a responsibility to create a future in Bexar County that diminishes chronic poverty and creates more opportunities in our community. Alamo Colleges is a beacon of hope, and I want to ensure that our light shines even brighter as we move the D2 community forward.  - Jose A. Macias Jr.
